Born on the 23rd day of December, 1981, he graduated from Faculty of Law, University of Maiduguri in 2006, and proceeded to the Nigerian Law School in the year 2006. He was thereafter called to the Nigerian Bar in 2007.

His professional career started in 2007 as a Corps member in the Law Firm of Messrs Niyi Ishola & Co., at Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.

He joined the Law Firm of J-K Gadzama & Partners LLP, Abuja office in 2008, and transferred to the Lagos office of the Firm at Ikoyi, Lagos in 2009. He is a member of Litigation Department.

Yusuf Yamta is a member of professional and social organizations. A sportsman and an ardent footballer.
