He obtained LL.B (Hons.) in 1985 from the University of Maiduguri and was called to the Bar in 1986 upon completion of the Nigerian Law School programme at Lagos. He practiced Law in Jos, Lagos and Kaduna before joining Chase law Chambers Partnership in 2001. He joined the firm in October, 2017 as a Partner.
He was appointed the Attorney-General of Borno State in 1999 and later served the Borno State Governor as Senior Special Assistant on Legal Matters. In 2001, he was elected the chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Maiduguri.
He attended the Tulane University, New Orleans, U.S.A for post-graduate studies in International Legislative Drafting in 2000. He is a member of the International Bar Association and mediated in the International Boundary dispute between Cameroon and Nigeria as a member of the United Nations Cameroon-Nigeria Mixed Commission. In 2003, the Chief Justice of Nigeria appointed him as a Notary public for Nigeria. He is an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK). He handles commercial and banking briefs as well as election matters.
